Gay Rights Movement

The gay rights movement has been challenged in the courts. Some conservatives have called for a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages; in 2012, President Barack Obama became the first U.S. president to support same-sex marriage. Meanwhile, some religions and churches have been struggling with the issues of gay marriage and of the ordination of gay clergy.  Thirteen of our states have legalized gay marriage.

I don't agree with gay marriage at all. I think it is one of the most disgusting things. I personally do not agree with anything that has to do with gay rights, I don't think that it should be allowed. What really upsets me is that the president of the United States agrees with gay rights and thinks that it is okay.  I understand that for gay people that's good, well to all the rest of us I think it is just disgusting. I don't think that gay marriage should be allowed anywhere and I don't agree with it at all.  I also don't think that it is good that 13 out of 50 states have legalized gay marriage. I know that the number could be worse, but in my opinion the number should be zero.

Syria killing its own people

In Syria right now they are killing there own people.  They have forced families to leave there homes and not have any place to go.  The wounded have to struggle at try to get themselves over the boarder before they die so they can be sent to a hospital. They say that 50% of injuries are due to shelling and falling buildings smashing there bones and bodies.  The other 50% of the injured or dead are from sniper fire and gunshots.
My thoughts on this, I can't even put into words.  My question is why would you kill your own people? I don't full understand why someone would do such a thing.  But I do now know why we are getting involved in this civil war, and I believe that is to try and save anymore innocent kids and adults from dying.  I think that what the Syrians are doing is wrong and they should not be killing innocent people.

Syrian War

Just three months ago, President Barack Obama called for an end to America's "perpetual war-time footing." Now he has ordered the U.S. military into position for an aerial strike in Syria.  And a Syrian attack happened that killed more than 1,400 people.  Obama hinted a military strike that sources and experts say would entail cruise missiles fired from U.S. Navy ships at Syrian command targets.  They say that there is not any chemical weapons on board or in any stockpiles.

Personally, I don't think that we should get involved in this war at all.  We still have troops in other places ing the world, and we don't need them fighting somewhere else too.  But I think the main issue is that people think that Obama is going to order chemical weapons to be fired.  I think that if we do set off chemical missiles then it will kill more people than just normal people. But over all I don't think that we should get involved in this war at all.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

Some of the provisions of the Act are to:

1. Make healthcare affordable for everyone.
2. It provides health insurance for everyone
3. Put a limit on how much someone has to pay for their healthcare.
4. It started new quality of care standards

That could mean a couple of important things.

First, healthcare will be available to everyone. Currently today there are about 45 million Americans who don't have insurance. Many of these don't have insurance because they can't afford it. Part of the Act makes healthcare available to everyone, even if they don't pay for it. What that means is people who can't go see a doctor canto see one now. Before this Act they would have to go to a hospital emergency room to get healthcare. Second, it makes health insurance more affordable for people who can't pay the high price of health insurance. Many health insurance plans today may cost 200-1200 dollars a month for a person. That makes it hard for many people who don't make lot of money to pay for it. This group of people maybe be young people just out of college who don't make a lot of money. The limit on how much someone has to pay themselves. That's good for the person because it limits on how much they pay.
On the other hand, all of these things can be seen as bad things too. If everyone has insurance covered by the government more people will seek healthcare services from doctors and hospitals. The government gets their money from taxes to pay the doctors and the hospitals. So, if they increase taxes to pay for it, that hurts everybody. If they don't increase taxes to pay for it, they will have to pay doctors and hospitals less money, which hurts them. This could mean that the quality of our care might go done in the future. Many hospitals in our country are charitable, meaning they take care of the sick who don't have insurance. The Act imposes quality standards that may be hard for some of them to meet, and they will have to pay a penalty.
Overall, it will be interesting to see what happens because we don't know if it will be good or bad.
